Hi there, yes you do need to varnish over the top for UV DTF prints to work. With regards to soft or semi soft ink it's something you would need to test out and see which provides the best results. Hope this helps.

Durability of the end product will relate directly to the type of media that you are using. For example sign vinyl will inherently be more durable to weather and UV as it is designed to be used outdoors. Heat transfer vinyl has it's own water-fastness, depending again on the chosen vinyl and fabric that it is applied to. We'd recommend checking the specifications of any self-adhesive media that you are using prior to application.

Yes, you can print on film using a flatbed UV printer but for best practise a test should be done first. Also, rigid UV ink will need to be used when printing on film. We currently only stock A4 and A3 size film at the moment so it will be limited to those sizes.

Hi there, it uses the ECO-SOL MAX 2 ink. White ink is only used when printing to clear media for decals that might be applied to glass. Picture a nail polish bottle that has a clear decal so you can see the contents but also has the branding and instruction. White ink contains heavy solids unlike the other inks so maintenance is crucial to keeping the head in good order. Nozzle checks are of course difficult to see when printing to white media so you have to load a piece of clear to perform nozzle checks. Due to the nature of the ink when it is loaded the printer will do more maintenance than it would should white not be loaded. For this reason you will find you ink levels lower quicker.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with the flex ink. The ink stretches and breaks during the separation process. It requires a rigid UV ink to achieve the best results.

What is the cost of the print pre Unit this printer uses for printing of a A0 size paper and ink could you please say and how long does it take pre poster to print using this printer please I am very interested but need to know more info and thanks for your replies

@@cryptofinders6377 The max print width is between 460mm-470mm, so it can’t print to A0 size in one print. A full size print up to 1m long will take between 15-35 minutes depending on the print settings. Hope this helps.

Hi@@cryptofinders6377 this really depends on a number of factors, including the artwork that is being printed, the print mode selected, the media being uses and if it's print only or print and cut. Sorry we can't be more specific in this instance.

also, is lamination required for long term durability?

You can control the white ink depending on how you set the artwork with the spot colour on your graphics software, the BN2-20 requires 220-240v.

You don`t necessarily need to laminate but it will prolong the durability. @@MintHillExpress

Hi there Simon, we never discuss time, temperature or pressure settings in any of our videos on purpose as all these settings are influenced by the type of press used, the individual substrate, and the type of paper. There can be huge variances between these settings depending on the heat press used alone. All these settings are available freely to GJS customers via our extensive knowledge base, which can be found at: help.gjs.co For viewers who are not GJS customers, our guidance is always to contact the supplier of your blank products for the exact time, temperature and pressure settings required to achieve the best results with the chosen product(s). For your information, we create these particular subby coolers using medium pressure, in a press set at 200-degress for 45-60 seconds. Hope this helps explain the logic behind our approach.

Unfortunately, there is no way to decrease this amount, the length is set by the sensor and is in place to protect the print head from hitting the edge of the vinyl.

@@gilryongsong The ‘Die cut’ option is called ‘Perf cut’ on these printers, it is added during the artwork preparation same as the kiss cut line. There will be multiple videos you can watch if you search for ‘Roland Perf Cut settings’. They should be able to help you through it. If you are a GJS customer, and are still having trouble with getting it right, feel free to reach out to our support team. Otherwise, the supplier or dealer you purchased the machine from should be able to provide you with some assistance.

If this is for a wearable apparel, it would be better to print with a direct-to-garment printer, as UV DTF is better suitable for hard surface materials. Although it is still possible to print on textiles, you would need to conduct your own tests or contact your local supplier to do a sample. If you're in Australia, contact our sales team at sales@gjs.co and they'll be able to test it out for you.

While it's possible that you can print DTF with any UV printer, our solution has been tested with only Roland UV printers in mind.

Roland DG's range of UV printers are direct to substrate printers, capable of embellishing a wide variety of substrates and even three-dimensional items, including pens, golf balls, awards and more. It's maximum printing resolution is 1440x720 dpi, which means it is definitely capable of printing photo-quality images. Where you print them, and on what, is up to you :)
